Lambton Hospitals Group is committed to remaining at the forefront of medical technology. This commitment is there for one reason only – our priority to focus on patient care. At one point or another in our lives, every one of us will require the services of our community hospitals. That’s why we are dedicated to providing the best possible care for the residents of Sarnia-Lambton. To make this possible, the Lambton Hospitals Foundation needs your help.
Since the creation of the Lambton Hospitals Foundation in 1998, thousands of individuals and organizations have generously contributed to our community hospitals by supporting Foundation events and activities.
All gifts, whether large or small, make a difference and are appreciated and acknowledged. Every dollar earned goes towards improving health care for all of us. Your donation can go directly to any area or program you prefer to support, or you can let the Foundation decide “where the need is greatest”. All donors will be issued an official tax receipt.
In addition to contributing to the capital campaign that will raise the community’s share of our $115 million new hospital, many of our donors direct their gifts to areas that are of special interest to them.
Aside from the good feeling you get from contributing to your community, there are significant tax benefits to making a donation to the Lambton Hospitals Foundation.
Tax credits apply for gifts to Lambton Hospitals Foundation up to a maximum of 75% of your net income in a given year. In the event that your gift exceeds this limit, the excess can be carried forward for up to 5 years.
If you make a gift during the year of your death, the limit increases to 100% of your net income in that year, with an allowance for a one year carry back of 100%.
There is a Federal tax credit available of 17% for gifts of $200 or less; this credit increases to 29% for the excess portion over $200.
The addition of provincial and surtax effects to the Federal tax credit increases the overall tax savings up to 46% (Ontario tax rules).
A cash gift is the most popular way to make a donation. Cash gifts include cash, cheques, Visa, Mastercard, debit, money order, or bank draft.
Come and visit us! You can make your donation directly to us at the Foundation Office at 89 Norman Street. We are located just inside the Norman Street entrance, ground floor, just around the corner from the Information Desk. At the office, we can accept your donation by cash, cheque, money order, Visa, Mastercard, or Interac direct payment (debit).

Donations can be made annually, biannually, monthly, or bi-monthly. This can be done by transactions on your Visa or Mastercard, or by electronic funds transfer (EFT) directly from your bank account. You may honour the memory of a loved one or special person by making a memorial contribution to the Lambton Hospitals Foundation. You will receive a tax receipt for your gift, and we will send a letter acknowledging your gift to the family of the person remembered. The amount of your gift will not be disclosed.
Regardless of the size of your contribution, the remembered person’s name will be placed on our annual Memorial Wall. A dedication service is held once a year for the family and friends of the people whose names were added to the wall that year. The next Memorial Wall service will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2003, for memorial donations received in 2002.
Memorial gifts can be directed towards a specific area or program, if desired. Families will often specify where they would like donations to go in the obituary announcement. Most local funeral homes will accept donations on our behalf, and forward to them for us to process in our usual way.
You may choose to make a gift to the Lambton Hospitals Foundation as a tribute to someone special. A tribute gift is an excellent way to mark birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, graduations, the birth of a child, retirements, or any special occasion. You may also choose to recognize a physician, staff member or specific program at the Lambton Hospitals Group for the care given to yourself or someone close to you. You will receive a tax receipt for your gift, and a lovely note will be sent to the honouree acknowledging your donation. The amount of your gift will not be disclosed.

A gift-in-kind involves the donation of property, goods or services instead of cash. Lambton Hospitals Foundation issues tax receipts for the fair market value of most gifts of goods, but cannot, however, issue tax receipts for services.
Gifts-in-kind include securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds), real estate, art, books, or equipment. They may also include items donated for special events, such as door prizes or silent auction items.
