Children's Auxiliary

The Children’s Auxiliary began in 1955 as a tender group of women who were affectionately known as the “Story Ladies” because they would read to children in the hospital to cheer them up during their stay. Today, the Children’s Auxiliary’s main focus is fundraising specifically for the children who are patients of Bluewater Health. To raise funds, the group hosts bake sales, the Annual Cookie Walk, raffles, garage sales, and other fun events to provide financial assistance and urgently required equipment to the Maternal/Infant/Child Program at Bluewater Health. St. Patrick’s high School student Scott Black volunteers with the Children’s Auxiliary by assembling activity bags that include coloring pages, jokes, and a toothbrush for children suddenly admitted into the hospital. Many other members choose to volunteer by rocking babies on the infant unit or organizing fundraising events.
If you are interested in joining, please contact Robin Wellington @519-344-9720.
Mission Statement
The volunteers of the Children's Auxiliary of Bluewater Health will fundraise in a manner satisfactory to the hospitals mission, to provide supplies and equipment, which are not provided by the Hospital's capital expense budget, to the areas that service children and babies in the hospital.
